The first meeting of chairpersons of Model Courts and Courts in Partnership for this year was held on 19 - 20 February 2010 in Veliko Tarnovo, Grand Hotel Yantra. It is organised under the project Enhancing Court Business Practices funded by the America for Bulgaria Foundation which was presented at the meeting.
At the meeting, the PDJS team drew attention to the new three-year project Enhancing Court Business Practices whose main goal is to focus on several key areas such as: access to justice; case management and control system; equality and impartiality; independence; boosting the trust in the work of the court. The foundation of this process lies in the implementation of the second Court Improvement Plan which has been elaborated. It is expected that, as a result of the good achievements of the courts included in the Model Courts and Courts in Partnership Program so far, the implementation of the second Plan and the assessment of the achievements will be based on a new mechanism in which the courts themselves will be the driving engine.
