A meeting of the chairpersons of Model Courts and Courts in Partnership was held on 16 January 2009 in Sofia. These are the courts which were part of the eponymous program of the United Stated Agency for International Development which was implemented by the Judicial Strengthening Initiative in the period 2000 – 2007.
The meeting was organized under a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development and the German Marshall Fund. The chairperson of Model Courts and Courts in Partnership discussed the continuation and promotion of the program and the inclusion of new courts in it. It is also planned that new information centers will be built in court houses in the country so that the Bulgarian judiciary can meet the high requirements for it in view of Bulgaria's membership in the European Union.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the United States Agency for International Development and the Supreme Judicial Council in view of the active cooperation of all partners in the process of improving the work of the judiciary in Bulgaria.
